The Port of Shanghai Reports Strong H1 Performance

Setting New Throughput Records Amid Global Uncertainties

Amidst intensifying global port competition and continued external uncertainties, Shanghai International Port (Group) Co., Ltd. (SIPG) is expected to have handled 28.737 million TEUs of container throughput and 304.78 million tonnes of cargo throughput at the Port of Shanghai in the first half of the year, up 6.2% and 2.7% year on year, respectively. These gains in both container and cargo throughput extend the Port's steady growth trajectory of recent years, while setting a series of new container-handling records. On June 9, the Port of Shanghai handled 187,312 TEUs in a single day, surpassing the previous record of 174,338 TEUs set on October 30, 2025. It also processed 68,088 TEUs in a single shift, eclipsing the previous record of 64,423 TEUs established on November 4, 2023.
