WAIC 2026: SIPG Forum Showcases New Technologies Shaping the Future of Green Smart Ports

The 2026 World Artificial Intelligence Conference (WAIC) was held in Shanghai from July 17 to 20. On July 19, SIPG hosted the “AI-Empowered Smart Ports and Global Shipping Ecosystem Forum,” bringing together industry leaders to explore how artificial intelligence can accelerate innovation across the port and shipping value chain.

The forum served as a high-level platform for sharing cutting-edge technologies, exchanging best practices, and fostering industrial collaboration in the port sector. It was attended by more than 100 representatives from research institutions, major port operators in China and abroad, leading AI technology companies, as well as stakeholders across the port and shipping value chain. Through keynote speeches and in-depth discussions, participants explored topics including how AI is reshaping global port logistics and driving the evolution of smart ports.

Moving beyond the conceptual vision of “port + AI,” the forum focused on three key areas. First, more than 100 experts shared insights into frontier technologies and explored new opportunities for collaborative innovation and industrial cooperation. Second, SIPG unveiled an AI innovation product suite covering the entire technology chain from foundational data capabilities to operational applications. Third, SIPG and its partners jointly released the White Paper on Building Port Intelligent Agents, providing global port operators and solution providers with a comprehensive roadmap spanning top-level architecture design through implementation.

SIPG’s digital transformation is not a series of isolated experiments but a systematic evolution encompassing automated terminal operations, intelligent decision-making at control centers, and the deployment of digital platforms. By integrating capabilities across different business lines and operational areas, SIPG has developed a replicable and scalable smart port solution that can be shared with the global port industry.
